Closing an OnlyFans account is easy. Closing it without leaving money on the table takes a little preparation. This article covers what to check before you delete, how the deletion works, and what happens to your payouts, your content and your subscribers afterwards. Platform details change, so check the current terms in your account when you do it.
First decide what you actually want.
Deleting is permanent. Your profile, your posts, your chats and your subscriber list are gone once the process completes. You cannot log in again with that account.
Deactivating, or simply pausing, means the account stays but is not visible or is not taking new subscriptions. You keep your content and can come back. If you are unsure whether the break is final, this is the safer option. Many creators who "quit" come back within months, and rebuilding a subscriber base from zero is harder than restarting a paused one.
A middle path: set your subscription price to free or turn off new subscriptions, stop posting, and leave everything in place. Nothing is lost, and nothing happens without you.
Any balance still sitting in your OnlyFans account has to be paid out before the account disappears. Check your earnings dashboard, request a payout for everything available, and wait until it has actually arrived on your bank account or payout provider. Do not delete on the same day. OnlyFans holds earnings for a period before they become available for withdrawal. If you have earned money in the last few days, part of it may still be pending. Look at the pending balance, wait until it clears, then withdraw. Only then start the deletion. Money that is still pending when the account is deleted is the money people lose.
Everything you uploaded should be saved locally before you delete. Photos, videos, and anything you might want to use on another platform. There is no way to get it back afterwards. Also save any statistics or earnings statements you need for your tax return. The tax office will want those figures later even if the account is gone.
If you also used the account as a fan, cancel all active subscriptions and remove your saved cards. Otherwise a renewal can still go through before the deletion completes. Check the subscriptions tab and the billing section.
Money that is not paid out, content that is not downloaded and subscriptions that are not cancelled are the three things you cannot fix after deletion. Do these first, then delete.
The exact wording in the menu changes from time to time, but the process has been stable for years and works best in a browser rather than in an app.
You will get an email confirming the request. Keep it. If anything goes wrong with a final payout, that email is your proof of when you closed the account.
Earnings that were available and that you withdrew before deletion are yours, nothing changes. Earnings that were still pending are supposed to be paid out after the holding period even after deletion, but do not count on it running smoothly without an account to log into. The clean way is to withdraw everything first and delete once the balance is zero.
Note that OnlyFans has a minimum payout amount. If your remaining balance is below it, you may not be able to withdraw. Check the current minimum in your account and, if needed, wait for one more payout cycle before deleting.
Your posts, media and messages are removed from the platform. Fans who subscribed to you lose access at the end of their current period and are not charged again. Anyone who bought pay-per-view content from you loses access to it as well. This is a common reason for complaints, so a short post announcing the closing date is fair to the people who supported you.
Copies that fans made outside the platform, screenshots or recordings, are not affected by the deletion. That is worth knowing but not a reason to stay. If you find your content elsewhere later, you can still file takedown requests as the copyright owner.
If your account was linked to an agency or management contract, deleting the account does not end the contract. Read the agreement, give proper notice and end it correctly. How such contracts typically work is described in OnlyFans management.
Once the deletion is complete, it cannot be reversed. Between the request and the completion, in the period while subscriptions are running out, it may be possible to log in and cancel the request. Whether and how long this window exists depends on the current terms, so if you change your mind, act on the same day rather than waiting.
If you are only unsure, do not delete. Deactivate, pause or simply stop posting. The option to delete does not go away.
Usually not right away. OnlyFans ties identity verification to a person, and reusing details from a deleted account can get flagged. If you plan to come back at some point, pausing the existing account is far simpler than deleting and trying to start fresh.
They run until the end of the paid period and are not renewed. Fans are not refunded for the remaining days. If you want to be fair, announce your closing date so people can decide whether to renew.
Your profile and content are removed from the platform. Some data, for example payment records and identity verification, is kept for a legally required period because financial regulations demand it. Check the privacy policy for the current retention periods.
Deleting the account and deregistering the business are two separate things. If you stop earning entirely, deregister with the trade office and inform the tax office. If you continue on other platforms, the business stays. Your tax return for the last active year is still due either way.
