OnlyFans payment: every method explained

Whether you want to subscribe to someone or start earning yourself, at some point you meet the OnlyFans payment system. It is simple once you know the rules, and confusing if you go by outdated guides. This article covers both sides: how fans pay, what is accepted, what it costs, and how the money reaches the creator.

OnlyFans paymentexplained

How does payment on OnlyFans work?

OnlyFans is built around subscriptions. A fan subscribes to a creator for a monthly price the creator sets, and that subscription renews automatically every month until the fan cancels it. On top of the subscription there are one-time payments: tips, pay-per-view messages, and locked posts that are unlocked for a fixed price.

To make any of this work, the fan adds a card to the account once. From then on, every subscription, tip and purchase is charged to that card. Charges go through immediately. Cancelling a subscription is done in the account with one click, and the current period runs until its end without another charge.

The company behind the platform is Fenix International Ltd, based in London. All payments run through its payment partners, which is why you see a foreign merchant on your statement and why the platform bills in a foreign currency for most European users.

Which payment methods does OnlyFans accept?

The short answer: cards from Visa and Mastercard, in all their forms. A few other card brands are accepted in some regions. Everything below the card level does not work.

Credit cards: the standard method

A regular credit card is what the platform is designed for. Enter the card number, expiry date and security code, confirm the billing address, done. Renewals and one-time purchases go through without further input. Visa and Mastercard are accepted everywhere. Other brands such as Discover or Diners may work depending on your region. Check the current terms if you rely on one of those.

Debit cards: the alternative to credit

A Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard behaves exactly like a credit card at checkout, but the money leaves your current account right away. For most people in Germany this is the easiest option, because banks increasingly issue these cards as the standard. The old Girocard, with or without a Maestro or V Pay logo, does not work.

Prepaid cards: paying without linking your bank account

A prepaid Visa or Mastercard is loaded with money in advance and only spends what is on it. It gives you a built-in limit and does not touch your main account. Fees vary by provider, and the card has to be enabled for online and foreign currency payments. If the balance runs out, the next renewal fails and the subscription ends.

Virtual cards: the workaround many people use

Banking and fintech apps can generate a virtual card number in seconds. It works like a physical card on OnlyFans, and you can set a spending limit, freeze it or delete it at any time. A dedicated virtual card for subscriptions is the cleanest way to keep track of what you spend. All the options without a credit card are compared in detail in OnlyFans without a credit card.

What does NOT work as a payment method?

Save yourself the search. The following are not accepted on OnlyFans, and there is no official workaround for any of them:

If a guide tells you that one of these methods works, it is either outdated or wrong. The accepted list is short on purpose, because payment partners for adult platforms are few.

Paying discreetly on OnlyFans: is it possible?

Fully anonymous payment is not possible. Every card is tied to a person, and OnlyFans, as a regulated business, needs to know who is paying. What you can expect is discretion.

Your fan profile is not public and not searchable. The creator sees the display name you choose, not your real name or your card details. On your statement, the charge shows with a short neutral description rather than the creator's name. The exact wording depends on your bank, so check the current information on the OnlyFans help pages if this is important to you.

If you want your subscriptions kept apart from your everyday account, a prepaid or virtual card does that. That is a matter of organising your own spending. It is not meant for hiding expenses from a partner you share finances with, and it will not hide anything from a bank or an authority with a legal right to see your accounts.

What OnlyFans costs: fees at a glance

There is no fee for having an account, as a fan or as a creator. Costs arise when you buy something.

ItemWho sets the priceTypical range
Monthly subscriptionCreatorFree up to a platform-set maximum, often roughly 5 to 30 dollars
Pay-per-view message or postCreatorRoughly 3 to 50 dollars, sometimes more
TipFanAny amount within platform limits
Bundles (3, 6, 12 months)CreatorDiscounted versus monthly
Foreign currency feeYour bankRoughly 1 to 2 % of the amount, if charged

Prices are shown in dollars or your local currency depending on your settings. VAT may be added for users in some countries. Your bank may add a foreign transaction fee because the merchant is abroad. The full breakdown from a fan's perspective is in OnlyFans costs.

For creators, the cost is the platform fee: OnlyFans keeps 20 % of everything a fan pays, and the creator receives 80 %. That applies to subscriptions, tips and pay-per-view alike. There are no additional listing or publishing fees.

How do you get your money as a creator?

Everything a fan pays lands in the creator's OnlyFans balance, minus the 20 % platform fee. Before the money can be withdrawn, it sits in a pending state for a holding period, which protects the platform against chargebacks. After that it becomes available.

Payouts go to a bank account or a payout provider such as Paxum or similar services, depending on your country and the current options. Creators can choose manual payouts or automatic ones on a weekly or monthly schedule. There is a minimum payout amount, and transfers take a few working days depending on the method. To receive payouts at all, creators must complete identity verification with a government ID, and must be 18 or older.

The details, including timing and typical fees, are covered in OnlyFans payout. One thing every creator should plan for: the money that arrives is revenue, not profit. Taxes, expenses and a reserve come out of it before it is really yours.

Common questions

Can I use OnlyFans without a credit card?

Yes. Any Visa or Mastercard works, including debit, prepaid and virtual versions. A credit card in the strict sense is not required, but some form of card is.

Does PayPal work on OnlyFans?

No. PayPal excludes adult content from its terms, and OnlyFans does not offer it. There is no way around this from either side.

What appears on my bank statement?

A short, neutral merchant description without the creator's name. The exact text depends on your bank and can change. If you need to know in advance, check the OnlyFans help pages or test with a small tip.

Are Paysafecard or gift cards accepted?

No. Neither Paysafecard nor any gift card works. The only prepaid option is a prepaid Visa or Mastercard, which is a card, not a voucher.

Can I cancel a subscription at any time?

Yes. Cancel in your account settings, and the subscription simply does not renew. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. If you want to leave the platform entirely, the process is described in deleting your OnlyFans account.
